In addition to this week's newsletter, senior choir students received an update on the choir program, including arrangements for next week's Arts Extravaganza.

The Doxa Camps Program provides the opportunity for more than 5000 students, teachers and support staff from the state’s most disadvantaged schools to enjoy an educational and enriching camp experience that their life circumstances might otherwise preclude. Students from all parts of Victoria are able to participate in valuable experiential learning, which enhances their classroom curriculum.
 In January 2016, Doxa is committed to running five Summer Camps for around 200 children from Grades 5 through to Year 7.
The attached brochure contains further information and the key points are summarised below.
·         Each Doxa Summer Camp is 5 days in duration with a choice of two locations; Doxa’s Malmsbury Camp (75 minutes north-west of the Melbourne CBD), and Doxa’s City Camp (in Melbourne CBD).
·         The all-inclusive fee per camper is $45. Any family unable to pay this can apply for a Doxa Campership to ensure that no child misses out due to their family’s financial circumstances.
·         Doxa Summer Camp is a great deal of fun and provides children with a range of exciting age-appropriate activities.
·         All Doxa Holiday camps are facilitated by a combination of Doxa staff and volunteers. Each staff member possesses a Working with Children Check, a National Police check and any other relevant activity specific qualifications.

Doxa has extended this offer to more students from our school in grades 4, 5 or 6 in 2015, who would love to join us for a Doxa Summer Camp experience.
 Nominations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and our closing date has been extended to 8th November 2015.
 Doxa Summer Camps offers many exciting activities and opportunities for all campers, especially for girls, with many of our female campers’ favourites such as Horsemanship, Music & Drama, Climbing Tower, Archery and more again on offer this year. Our camps are facilitated by quality female, and male volunteers and staff who inspire all young people to achieve greatness through positivity and encouragement.

Today's newsletter was sent home with the eldest in the family. Also sent home this week were information about the upcoming busking week, and the roster for Prep - Gr 2 swimming, which begins on Monday.

Today's newsletter included a notification for grade 5/6 students that headlice have been detected in those grades. We ask you to please take the time to check your child's hair for eggs and live lice, and treat if required. We would also appreciate you contacting us, in this instance, so we can keep our community informed.

Today's newsletter included an order form for the Father's Day Stall and a personalised camp note for Grade 5/6 students. Electronic copies of these notes are not available, but if you did not receive either of them, please call in at the office for a spare copy.

Photographs and media are classified as personal information under the Information Privacy Act 2009. Ararat Primary School respects your privacy and therefore requests your permission to photograph and/or video your son(s) and/or daughter(s) and authored works for possible inclusion in our image library. The image(s) and recordings will remain the property of Ararat Primary School, however the school understands that the intellectual property rights of authored works belong to the student. 

It is important that this consent for publication is informed consent. The usual reasons for use of student images/ recording/ work by schools include:

 • Recording of student participation in school events

 • Celebrating student effort and achievement; and 

• Promoting the school and events held by the school.

A student’s intellectual property may include written work, artwork, photographs, videos, films, music, performance, recordings and sculptures, made by them or to which they contributed. It includes, but is not limited to, work created during the course of their studies at Ararat Primary School. These materials may form part of their assessment or be part of their studies generally, and may attract copyright.

Ararat Primary School understands that: 

• Students generally own the intellectual property rights in the material they create 

• Any consent is not meant to transfer the student’s ownership

 • Consent gives the school permission to use the student’s material for the purposes mentioned.

 Your permission to the recording, use and disclosure of the individual work is required in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968, the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and the Information Privacy Act 2009. Personal information will be stored securely.

Please assist us by returning the Student Media Consent Form, sent home on 12/02/2015, as soon as possible. If you have misplaced the form, it can be printed from the file below or spare copies can be obtained from the school office.
